Newport Shores in Newport Beach has a clubhouse, pool, tennis court, sand volley ball court, basketball court and a play ground for children for the residents of Newport Shores. There are continual activities throughout the year from Fourth of July parades and activities, coin dives, Memorial Day barbecue, swim team during the summer months, tennis tournaments at different times of the year, and barbecues during holidays. The Newport Shores residents are encouraged to participate in the activities. During the summer months, there is a lifeguard on duty as well at the Newport Shores pool.
Newport Shores is a very diverse area which is right across from one of the finest beaches located in Newport Beach. There is also the river jetty where dogs are allowed to run and play off leash. The river jetty is also a very popular surfing location throughout the year. The Frog House is located right on Coast Highway, and is a popular place for surfers to frequent.

Homes are located on the Canal, and 62nd street so they are have water views. Residents can enjoy the Canal and the views of the bird life in their small boats and kayaks.

Newport Shores is surrounded by water (Canal Street to 62nd street – the water ends stops over by Cappy’s Restaurant) and land which is in essence a bird sanctuary. There are Great Blue herons, white herons, ducks, wood ducks, seagulls, pelicans and currently there is a beautiful white swan residing here. The pelicans typically only visit on the winter, and they are spectacular to watch. In the past couple of years, there were also geese that lived in the Canal. The geese were very friendly and they could be hand fed.
The Newport Shores canal is fed by the ocean and the water level goes up and down with the tide. Some of the residents of Newport Shores enjoy the canal by kayaking and canoing. There are no motorized boats in the canal.

Newport Shores is a great community with so many activities. Newport Shores is a very friendly neighborhood where your neighbors are your friends. There are many kids and activities for kids to participate in. There is a book club for adults which meets on a regular basis at the Newport Shores Club House. There are swim teams during the summer months at the Newport Shores community pool. Early in the year, there are swimming conditioning programs for Newport shores children to participate in as they are preparing for the Newport Beach Junior Lifeguard Program. There are also tennis tournaments that you can participate in as well.

The theme for the Newport Shores Tennis Tournament was the 1970's. There was a themed party as well after the second day of the Newport Shores Tennis Tournament.
